Had a most unusual encounter upon landing in #HongKong for a gig assignment! The immigration officer did a double take when he saw my passport, before tentatively asking, “Are you the game master on CNA? Yvonne Chan?”😳😮Me: “Uh yes…”Officer: “Good show and nice outfit. Please look at the camera.” Me: *Keeping a straight face* “thanks for watching…. 😬?” Officer: *Looking very stoic* “Good luck for your next show!” Now how did he recognise me in my regular clothes? 😂What an interesting welcome to Hong Kong! 🇭🇰

🎬It’s a wrap after 4 exciting episodes of CNA Resilience Quest! First off, I want to thank everyone for the wonderful support, views, and comments we received for the show. It wouldn't have been possible without the amazing village behind it - from our star producers, EP, cam crew, graphics team, game writers, and Anomalyst Studio. Resilience Quest is a different format for a news channel, rather edgy, marrying many top national issues into a real-time debate between players. Witnessing the action was stimulating as I guided the contestants along as the game master. My biggest takeaways? 🎥 Prep is key. So much content went into the show - personal research of each contestant and the issues to be discussed is a must. Don’t underestimate the importance of fact-checking every detail. 😊 🎥 How do you build chemistry fast? Many of the contestants only met on the actual day on set, yet they had to work together as a team and perform under intense, high-pressure with no room for NGs, since all competition timings were taken live! Premiering Tonight, 18th March on CNA at 7pm SGT! “Resilience Quest” is a brand new immersive series where teams time-travel to dystopian futures to confront hypothetical worst-case scenarios in Singapore. The game was developed from scratch, with an intricate scoring system, charismatic contestants from specialist fields, a panel of expert judges and #AI characters! Don't apologize for speaking up! This International Women's Day, let's celebrate women by empowering them to speak with confidence. As a public speaking coach, I've been working with more women leaders in Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan to help them channel executive presence. Here are ✌️ top tips to keep in mind:🚫 Stop undermining yourself by saying 'sorry' when it's not warranted.🤚🏼 Instead, start your sentence with "I would like to add that..." and own your voice.🚫 Watch out for filler words such as 'actually', 'umm', 'so', 'you know'... These fillers make your speech sound disorganized and unclear. They can also distract your audience and prevent them from understanding your message.🤚🏼 Instead, slow your pace, pause and think through what you're about to deliver.Speaking up confidently isn’t always easy, but it’s often worthwhile and rewarding. How can we get over our presentation nerves?⏰Many of us are familiar with the saying #practiceMakesPerfect and when it comes to conquering your fear of public speaking, clocking in practice hours does count. A LOT. You might have attended workshops, or read about techniques to improve your public speaking skills but the most effective way to overcome nerves is to APPLY your knowledge ➡️ that means taking that first step to go on stage/ front of a room and present. 🍎 Steve Jobs was well known for working the 10,000 hour rule. In some of his earlier presentations, you could see that he was visibly nervous, holding on to the lectern, reading straight from prepared notes. But he got better every year, and had built a reputation for practicing relentlessly. 🗣️Like mastering any other skill, without consistent practice, it's hard to become a more confident communicator or presenter. I guess you could say I had practiced since the age of 6 😄(hosting for my kindergarten's graduation ceremony) and I still put in the hours before every show/ presentation to make it look effortless. So take that first step; put your hand up to practice speaking on stage and conquer those jitters! #publicspeaking #overcomenerves #howitstarted #howitsgoing
