Technically, if we only use a few tablespoons in a recipe, the total carb count per serving could remain low enough to be keto. If you’re on a therapeutic ketogenic diet,it may be a better idea tothicken lower carb lemon juice with xanthan gum and sweeten it with erythritol, Lakanto monk fruit sweetener, or an allulose-based sweetener. Then you can add orange flavor with orange zest or orange extract.

  • Sesame seeds and sliced scallions (optional garnish)

I experimented with making crispy chicken pieces with a combination of keto flours (almond flour and coconut flour) but wasn’t happy with the results. You could also use crushed pork rinds or whey protein, but it’s easier to skip the breading.

To make the keto sticky orange sauce gluten free, make sure the orange marmalade and barbecue sauce you use are GF options. You’ll also need to substitute the soy sauce of gluten-free tamari or coconut aminos.

  1. Cut the chicken breast into 1-inch pieces (2.54cm) and place in a medium-size bowl. Sprinkle with the paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt. Gently stir to coat.
  1. Heat the oil in a cast-iron skillet over medium heat for about 5 minutes. Add the chicken and cook, stirring and flipping occasionally, until browned on all sides. (It will take 8-15 minutes.) Chicken that is fully cooked has reached a minimum safe internal temperature of 165F (74C) using a meat thermometer.

While the chicken is cooking, make the orange sauce in a separate pot.
